Locked out

Post by Ted Myers »

Hello, I have 4 Microsoft email accounts. 2 hotmail.com, 1 gmail.com and 1 outlook.com all have different variations of my name.
I have the Windows Mail App on the Taskbar of both laptops Win10 & Win11.
I tried the new version of the App on my Win 11 pc, I didn't like it so returned to the original.
Today I tried to send an email on Win 11 pc, it failed and gave me this image.

Now the only account I can access is the Gmail.com one. I tried all the others but got the image I posted with the user name I have removed. All accounts are registered with Google Authenticator App and/or a PIN number. All I was asked to do was enter my phone number to be sent a code.I only have one mobile phone number but it woould not accept it. Submit biutton was greyed out.[/size]

Hello, I tried removing the 0 and added 44 on my 2 phone numbers. Never tried your method. The good news is, I managed to find Live Chat and my accounts will be re instated in 24 hours.

Re: Locked out, update

Post by Ted Myers »

Till an hour ago, I was still locked out of my hotmail.com account As it belongs to MS they can do what ever they want with it
I found I was able to uninstall the Mail app on both Win 10 & 11 laptops then reinstall it. It is now using an outlook.com email.
A question, what should the default app operating part be. I only download Gmail emails which are in .EML format.?
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

As I am using Outlook I picked Outlook as that is what I'm using. MS recommends the Mail app for Win 10. I also use the same on Win 11 laptop.

You can use any email client or browser to access your Gmail account - just use the one you like best.

Hello DaveA, I was using the built-in Windows Mail app on my Win 11 laptop. It was using a Hotmail.com address. I noticed the mail app had an update available. I installed it, disliked it and removed it to continue using it to open .EML files. It was only used to test my settings of other emails i.e. fonts. Microsoft locked my account.
To clear it, I uninstalled the mail app the added an outlook.com address. I was unable to verify my phone number or set up Google Authenticator app.
I have spent a few hours with 3 Microsoft agents who tell me its a fault at there end and should be fixed soon.
Personally, I don't care as I prefer Gmail.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.
