Interesting trip down memory lane, even with some of the microscopic print in some areas.

Re: Darwinian Evolution of Microsoft Windows
Ahh, memory lane... I remember my IBM computer with Windows 3.1. The first thing some smart feller did was go back and teach me MS-DOS. I thought he was nuts, but later found out it was the smartest thing he could have done to teach me support of the Windows operating system. After I got into supporting the computer world at work shortly thereafter, I ran across a box of old floppy disks that contained original software from some old computer from the mid-80s. Wow, I found a version of Windows 1.01! I found an old computer lying around that was basically useless for Windows 95 at the time, loaded it with MS-DOS 3.0 (I think) and loaded up Windows 1.01 to see what the old girl would do. Exactly the limitations listed in the description above! It was extremely boring, so it didn't take me long to move on the bigger and better things.

Judging by storage requirements it'd be "Survival of the fattest"DenGar wrote:(Not sure how Darwin figures into this evolution.

Re: Darwinian Evolution of Microsoft Windows
I remember having to install Windows NT 3.1 on a series of test machines from floppy disk. Twenty-two numbered diskettes that had to be inserted each time, not in numeric order.
Best wishes,
Hans

For future reference, Bob, don't forget about ctrl+ which is what I use pretty often on very small web text.viking33 wrote:Interesting trip down memory lane, even with some of the microscopic print in some areas.
(In this case, I had to do it twice to get a decently readable text.)
