Here's my go at the Crescent Nebula. Significant as it's the first go out using my new Off Axis Guider instead of the now redundant guide scope.
The Crescent Nebula is an emission nebula about 5000 light years away in Cygnus.
132 x 60 second frames. Captured 01/07/22.

Hah! Graeme, you can't fool me that easily.
You have been in Australia, haven't you? Forgot to take your camera off auto-rotate, too.
Those five bright stars that you managed to get I recognize as Crux Australis, upside down and, I hasten to point out, a tad over-elongated.
Otherwise, 7 for effort
Cheers, Chris

No sorry, I have never been to Australia.
Well spotted though! Although the image is coma free and sharper, unlike the last few I've posted, the OAG still has a few setting up issues. The guide camera focus is adjusted by moving it closer to or further away from the OAG mirror, a delicate skill I have yet to fully master! As a result, the excellent PHD2 guiding software kept loosing the out of focus guide star. As a result all the stars are a bit eggy. Nethertheless, for a maiden voyage, I was well chuffed with the result.
Your score of 7 is very generous (unless it's a percentage!)

Oh, another one of those pictures that makes me want to spend vast amounts of money.
Then I realise, I'd have a hard time getting up at 2:00am and the urge passes.
Knowing that I get a steady stream of impressive images here, for free, also helps.
Thanks Graeme, keep them coming.

I too am sorry, Graeme. If we all clubbed together and sent you there for six months, Eileen's Lounge would become world-famous for its collection of starry-eyed Loungers staring at starry images.
Coma?... the image is coma free ...
Good to know that percentages are allowable, although I know too little to get to within ten units, let alone one one hundredth of a unit. I scored you, by the way, out of 5.Your score of 7 is very generous (unless it's a percentage!)
We should not be surprised that I spot a pattern that resembles Crux Australis. There are two reasons:-
(1) My heritage of seeing the constellation almost every night AND living in the town of that name and
(2) The fact that I am so ignorant of celestial images, that my mind is going to lock onto something that looms large in other parts of my mind. That's the old thing about "If all you have is a hammer, then every problem is a nail".
I could probably spot a Crux Australis in every image of a starry sky!
Cheers, Chris

No, it's ok, you don't have to get up at 0200, you have to stay up till 0200!
The odd shaped stars in my last few images.
Cheers Hans.
