Google Contacts + Android Mobile

Post by Ted Myers »

Hello, sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I have now got my first smart phone and got it working how I want it but without a SIM card sofar.
If I access my Contacts on my pc, add a new person's email + phone number it gets added to the Smart phone.
If I do it on the phone, it is not added to the contacts on my Google Contacts on my PC.
Any help would help me with a friends phone. He has many contacts on his phone but only 3 in his Google account. We have tried for a week without any success, can you help?
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

Just a minor thoughts, Ted:
- Are you checking for Google Contacts listing via your Browser online or at an app such as Thunderbird, Windows 10 Mail etc.
- Are your browser, smartphone Sync's on.

What brand of smartphone is this? It is likely that the contact you added has NOT been put in Google contacts but in some proprietary database from the phone vendor. Have a look at the settings on your phone contact app to see if you can find this.

See this article about Samsung contacts for example.

Hello Ron, I check my Google Contacts using G Chrome & FF, both are signed in using my Gmail account.
As to my browser & Smartphone sync yes. My pc & phone are not as yet connected. I did not know this was required, as I can read & send emails.
StuartR, will try it.
My SPhone is an Oppo A5 2020 with the latest software.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

Unfortunately I am not familiar with Oppo phones, and I can't find information about their contacts app on a quick internet search

Ted
Is the phone logged in to the Gmail account? I have always thought that that is how Google accounts and phones communicate.

Yes it is connected to my Google account. Reading & sending email, plus access to Calendar.

You could use the google contacts app, instead of the one provided by Oppo

So you should be able to add contacts and have them appear in Gmail. Can you check the sync settings on your phone

Hello StuartR, I was under the impression my original question would help me to help an 85 year old with his pc etc.
I have been given the smartphone by him for helping him. It took me 2 try's to get it how I wanted it. I can read & send email, calendar access, use Messenger chat to name a few without logging in to my slow laptop.
On my pc, I have 68 email contacts in my Google Account, they also appear on my smartphone. 100 plus phone numbers, mobile & landline on WordPad. So I don't need to sync setting.
-
My friend John, has 3 computers, 2 smartphones, multiple email addresses, Gmail, Hotmail & Outlook. Only one smartphone has his phone numbers.
We have access to 2 of his Gmail accounts and passwords & 1 Outlook account & password. His smartphone with his phone numbers uses one of his Gmail accounts that we can't find the password for.
I tried to sync one of his laptops with the Sphone with the numbers on it but the laptop has an Outlook account for it. Will have to learn more on that later.
Please don't reply as yet.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.
