Bear cheek

Post by John Gray »

I was much amused by the strapline to a story on the BBC News website summary page: “Woman repels bear armed only with a courgette”. Those bears will use any weapon nowadays, not just their claws! It was in Montana, after all. The actual story has an alternative, but better-worded, headline.

I suspect my strapline rewording: "Courgette-wielding bear shuns repulsive woman" would not have got through the sub-editing process.

Since the bear was in Montana, I assume it wielded a zucchini instead of a courgette...
Best wishes,

Now that's something to bear in mind; if your courgette plants bear fruit, they can be used as missiles.

I guess the bear will change its diet now, and has ballistophobia as well.

Keep in mind that the right to arm bears is guaranteed by the second amendment to the US constitution.
Best wishes,

The bride has a friend who used a broom to shoo a black bear away from her fruiting pear tree in Idaho. Her husband told her to never do that again!
