Some smaller and more obscure villages in the UK managed quite nicely without any street names and sometimes even house numbers until quite recent times. The coming of the UK-wide PostCode system in 1960s-1974 required both, so road names and house numbers (or names) had to be introduced.
I'm sure that Bonavista could have made do (perhaps still does?) with house identifications like "Chris's Luxury Villa"!

Birchwood Wisconsin by the look.
It appears that they tried to follow the convention of 21st St, 22nd St etc but then had some in the middle.
There's accommodation there by the name Wepakuminn Upnorth.

The houses in a village not far from where I live only have house names. Unsurprisingly, the locals always know when their regular postman is on leave.
