What time of year do you get the shallow but continuous layer of white cloud over the fields and roads a few metres above their surfaces? Always fascinating to look down on them from a slightly elevated position.

Anytime! Though more likely from late Oct to April.
I had reason to drive to Malton this morning and there were some lovely misty scenes to be enjoyed despite the solid grey sky. Didn't have my camera with me though so you'll just have to imagine the top of a wooded hill sticking up out of a layer of fog.
