If the slide number placeholder < # > has been deleted from a slide master, how can I re-instate this?

Switch to Slide Master view.
Click the Master Layout button on the ribbon.
Tick the check box "Slide number".
Click OK.

Hi. Thanks, that works fine.
I did try it earlier and the Slide number option was greyed out. Perhaps the placeholder was still on the slide somewhere.
