Windows Updates require re-indexing of all items
Every few weeks, Windows installs and update and requires me to restart. After restarting, Windows starts the process of indexing hundreds of thousands of items. For several days, I am unable to search. Is turning off Windows updates the only way to stop this from happening?

Re: Windows Updates require re-indexing of all items
I received Windows updates on Tuesday, but searching continues to work as intended. I don't know why it causes Windows Search to re-index everything.
You might try Everything. It's free and it is supposedly more efficient than Windows Search.

Re: Windows Updates require re-indexing of all items
Windows will only re-index the files updated in a Windows update if the system folders are included in the search index settings. You would have had to add them yourself as they are not included by default.
