I'm having a challenge with the ribbon where the tab selections are colored black and don't know how to change the color scheme. I applied a different theme on the desktop but that did not help.

Re: Excel 2013 Ribbon Challenged
Does it help if you select a different Office theme in File > Account or in File > Options?
Best wishes,

Does the problem also occur in the other Office 2013 applications, such as Word and PowerPoint? Or just in Excel?
Best wishes,
Hans

Hans,
The other office applications are behaving in the same manner. I decided to do a repair of Office and will let you know how that goes.

Are you sure that you haven't applied a high-contrast theme in Windows?

You could check if there is an updated driver for your video card...

Re: Excel 2013 Ribbon Challenged
It reminds me of a similar issue some months back when Outlooks calendar control title bar displayed black.
If I can remember correctly, it was either resolved by updating the PC's video/graphics driver or by toggling the Hardware Graphics Acceleration checkbox in the Options > Advanced tab of an Office application.
Since John mentions that it occurs in the other Office apps to, (and my reference is to Outlook), I've moved this thread to the Office General board

Re: Excel 2013 Ribbon Challenged
Rudi,
It was the Hardware Graphics Acceleration option that was causing the display to black out sections.
Thanks for the suggestion.
