You can try that. After rebooting, check in Task Manager that Avast is not active.
Best wishes,
Hans

Wait - according to Configuring an Outlook.com account in Outlook, "The Outlook Connector is no longer supported."
With Outlook 201 SP2 you should be able to add your Hotmail/Live account directly.

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
Now that is interesting since I have had sp1 for years.
I tried to install Office 2010 sp2 and it says I don't have office 2010 on my laptop.
Not having a good day at all

I checked the latest SP in Ms Word and it already is SP2.
You were saying that you should be able to add your Hotmail/Live account directly.
Do I do that in Outlook?
Do I use the same email address as is there now, if so won't that confuse Outlook?

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
I have managed to add the new account to outlook, it is now copying the emails for the last few days.
After that I will uninstall the connector the remove the old email account.
So thank you for sticking in there with me, you're worth your weight in gold.
Again Hans, THANK YOU.
All good, Microsoft had changed Office to not use Connector any more, that is why this problem occurred in the first place.
All I had to do was to add a new email account, then uninstall connector, exit Outlook, then start Outlook again and wait until all emails were refreshed, then finally remove the old email account.

Yeah Rudi, Hans is the man.
What I have noticed after all this is when I send an email to myself a different name appears in the from column.

Hi,
Your account might be set up with no name associated with it. Check your account settings and ensure you have a name typed into the Display Name text box, in addition to the compulsory Email Address. See image below for example...
If the above does not resolve, you could try to remove the "wrong name" from the auto-complete list,. When you set up a new email and type the "wrong name" into the To box, when it recognizes and auto-completes, use the "X" or whatever method Hotmail allows, to delete the name from the auto-complete. Once you have done that, see if it solves the issue.

This appeared in my Synch folder:
I don't know where the name Tara Lauren came from, it should be Pat Thorn.

Hi,
Review this link and, depending on which mail app(s) you use, follow its advice to ensure that all your mailboxes have your name assigned to them.
Afterwards, see if this clears up on the mystery names.

I don't know if it's a Mapi or Pop3 account.
How can I find where Tara Lauren is used/defined?

Doubt it, as I sent it.
Somehow it shows Tara Lauren instead of me?
I will reboot and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
Have you tried disabling Cached Exchange Mode and who is your Oz ISP?
Cheers, Claude.

Re: Outlook 2010 stopped send/receive
The Cache Exchange Mode was enabled.
I don't have an Oz ISP anymore, I was using outlook connector.
