Outlook 2010 Contacts Not Searchable
If I do a search for a contact on one of my machines using Outlook 2010 the contacts do not show up. They are there and I can manually find them but a search fails to locate them, all of them. I have no idea what is happening. Can I fix this? Thanks

It sounds like an indexing problem.
This looks like a long guideline, but they cover all versions.

OK I have checked and it shows all items have been indexed. Not sure what else to do because it seems further steps should be taken if it was not being indexed. This is a quote from that article and why I'm not sure what else to do; "If Outlook has not finished indexing all of your items, note the items remaining to be indexed, wait 5 minutes, and then check again. If the number of items did not decrease, continue to troubleshoot by using the steps in the following sections."Rudi wrote:It sounds like an indexing problem.

I don't iknow if others have a fast fix for you but whenever I have indexing issues in Outlook or Windows I just go the long way round and clear and then rebuild the index.

OK I have to admit I didn't even know about the Search Tab and Search Tools before following Rudi's link. I tried an Advanced Search and it finds everything I need it to but still searching the way I am used to in the Search Box finds nothing.

Hope is does the trick.....
For other loungers who happen upon this thread, here are two more links:
1. A comprehensive guide-through to fix indexing issues in Outlook (that originate from Windows indexing).
2. A Microsoft FIX IT that automates fixing the Windows indexer (which Outlook is connected to).

Followed the links above just to see what they were. The second link must not be compatible with Win 10 yet. See attachment.

Yep, not for Win 10.
(Sorry... I was not sure what OS you were on, but note that is it only up to Win 8.)

Many of the troubleshooting tools are built into Win10. To see the tools start Control Panel, type "troubleshoot" in the search box, click on "Troubleshooting", click on "View All" in the left navigation pane.
