Save picture from Outlook 2007 message

Hi folks,
Not quite sure if this is a Windows 7 issue or not, so please excuse me if I put this on the wrong forum.

Situation:
- received an image embedded in an email that I wanted to upload in Wordpress.
- right clicked, copied (this was my only option) into MS Paint and saved.
- size of image showed 1376 X 1840 pixels.

The size suggests to me that the image should at least fill the screen when I open up this file in MS Paint. Correct?

Issue:
- when opened in MS Paint, it appears as a small image in upper left corner.

Do I have to crop the image in order not to be getting the surround white area when uploaded into Wordpress?

If you open the e-mail message in Outlook, do you have a button "Send to OneNote" on the right hand side of the ribbon?

If so, click it and OneNote will open with a copy of the message. Right-click the picture and select Save As... from the popup menu. You'll now have the image in a file.

When I open the MS Paint file, it is Windows Photo Viewer that opens it - or at least that's what it says in the title bar.

Yes I have the OneNote icon. I did that but the picture did not transfer over. The text came across, no problem.

Just so I know for next time, where should I have put this thread?

What is the format of the message that you received? HTML or Rich Text? You can see this in the title bar of the message when you open it, there will be either - Message (HTML) or - Message (Rich Text) after the subject.

The 'trick' I mentioned only works with HTML messages. If your message is in Rich Text format, try the following:
- Open the message.
- Click Other Actions in the Actions sectionof the ribbon, and select Edit Message... from the dropdown list.
- Activate the Options tab of the ribbon.
- Click HTML in the Format section.
- Save the message (click the Save button in the Quick Access Toolbar or click the Office button, then Save).
- Activate the Message tab of the ribbon.
- Click Send to OneNote.

In that case, the picture should be included in the OneNote item... Very strange!

You'll have to copy and paste into Paint then. Try the following:
- Right-click the picture in the e-mail message and select Copy.
- Start Paint.
- Make the "canvas" quite small by dragging the lower right corner up and to the left.

- Paste. The "canvas" should be resized automatically to accomodate the picture.

Even stranger now.. I thought your idea was brilliant and would work. Successfully did what you said. That left me with a smaller picture on the big white canvas.

Quite possible, especially if Michelle's correspondent is not well versed in the use of MSPaint.
I often do the old Alt-Image, Attributes, 4,4, thing on opening MSPaint, on principle.
I rather wish one could force MSPaint to open with those settings.

I suppose that I could save a 4x4 JPG and assign it to a shortcut called When_I_Want_To_Paste.lnk.

FWIW, this is supposedly fixed in Outlook 2010.
