Update will not download
Hi.....every time I boot up Secunia informs me there is a priority update I should attend to but despite numerous attemps to so do it fails every time. Attached is a Word doc with a series of screen shots that I encounter along the way. What does the first screen shot mean when it says IE is not functioning correctly & why -after clicking the OK tab - does it not by pass the blockage? How important is the MO Excel 2003 update & in what way will -not being able to download it - compromise my computer? Hope that is clear enough. Thanks Dave.

Dave,
There appears to be a few problems with this download. Microsoft have some ideas here on how you can fix it

Re: Update will not download
Dave,
Secunia PSI will display the message shown in the first screenshot if Firefox is your default browser; it is not something to worry about.
If you don't have the update, your computer is slightly more at risk, but not dramatically so. I'd try the direct download mentioned in the article that Jezza referred to (it's labeled "Download the office2003-KB978474-FullFile-ENU.exe package now"). Save the file to your hard disk, then open it and follow the instructions.

Re: Update will not download
Also note that Secunia PSI will show that a update is needed if a setup file is found for a know program. This in turn makes things hard to do if that version is not installed.

Getting around this error message would be a rather technical excercise, so I suggest you let it be and skip this update. The risk you run by not installing it is not extremely serious.
Best wishes,
Hans
