Hi, could anybody tell me how to stop Word 2010 from defaulting to 2 lines.
I would like it to just give me ONE line when I press the enter key.
Thanks

Re: Default line spacing
This is probably the paragraph spacing for your Normal style. The issue is not "2 lines" but space before and/or space after the paragraph.
You can change this by
You can change this by
- Clicking the little arrow in the corner of the Styles area of the Home tab on the ribbon
- Find Normal on the list and click the arrow on the right
- Select Modify
- In the Modify Style pane that appears select Format > Paragraph...
- Change the values for Spacing Before and Spacing After to 0
- OK your way back through the dialog boxes

Re: Default line spacing
Open Word.
Right-click the Normal style in the Styles group of the Home tab of the ribbon and select Modify... from the context menu.
If you want to apply the settings to all new documents, select "New documents based on this template", then click Format > Paragraph...
In the Spacing section of the Paragraph dialog, set Spacing After to 0 and Line Spacing to Single.
Click OK, then OK again.

Re: Default line spacing
Thank you both. What an awful convoluted way of setting up basic requirements.
It now seems ok.
Thanks

Re: Default line spacing
This is a "shortcut"...
1. Type some text and access the paragraph dialog
2. Adjust the spacing before/after to 0
3. Adjust line spacing to Single
4. Click on Set as Default
5. Select option two (for all documents)
6. Chose OK.
