I can't find the place to do this, nor can I find a thread telling how to do it ...
In another place there was an area to explain the reason for editing a post, as in "edited to announce a later version".
Please, Have we this facility?

Re: "Reason for editing:"
The only time I have seen a "Reason for editing" box is when I have edited other people's posts as a moderator.

Re: "Reason for editing:"
I have been known to add an explanation to a self-edited post stating: Edited to add/clarify/correct, etc ...

Hi Stuart.StuartR wrote:The only time I have seen a "Reason for editing" box
I would've sworn there was a little box .... This is what seems to be generated automatically on Woody's Lounge today.
Perhaps I am thinking of Woody's Lounge circa 2007 before all the new code came in .....
There was an option to add an explanation in a separate box, as distinct from adding the explanation as part of the body of the text of the message.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: "Reason for editing:"
Woody's Lounge before the switch to IP.Board in 2009 had a box for that. The software we use here only shows it to moderators/admins when they edit someone else's post.
If you edit a post after there has been a later reply in the thread, the software will automatically add a line that you edited the post.
As Samantha noted, you can always add an explanation for the edit within the post itself.

Thanks Hans. I was beginning to worry that my memory was fading. Again. I think!HansV wrote:Woody's Lounge before the switch to IP.Board in 2009 had a box for that.

Thanks, Samantha. I guess that's always an option on any forum software.Samantha wrote:...add an explanation to a self-edited post ...
As Hans confirmed, I was "living in a previous world" in my head. I felt sure that there was a special box for it.

If you edit your reply again, then you will see an addition of the date/time and editor name - because it now has a reply.

Why do you suppose there is the condition?
If I edit a post when there has as yet been no reply, that suggests that I am editing the latest post in the thread, which, of course, is one of my posts or replies.
So in a 9-post thread, post 9 has now been edited - by me; I have edited my own post (typically with a "later discovery" or a "solution").
Three weeks later a lounger (who read the thread on day one) comes back to re-read the thread to see if anything was resolved.
An "edited by" tag would alert them to new developments, would it not?
Regardless of subsequent replies, an edited post is of high-interest.
