Hi,
My wife has this frustrating scenario occuring in her browser (IE and Chrome). Each time she clicks on a link, a large popup window activates over the browser and advertises bridal garments... A few weeks ago she was doing this online survey, and since then this scenario started with this large popup window. I am not sure how to get rid of this nuisance. AFAIK, I cleaned out cookies and even ran CCleaner to clean out all the junk. Any other actions that will KILL and ERADICATE this window will be highly appreciated and worth a load of
TIA

1) Have you checked the Programs and Features control panel? If you see an 'unwanted' application there, uninstall it.
2) Check the browser for add-ons (IE: Tools | Manage Add-Ons, section Toolbars and Extensions; Chrome: click the Chrome menu, then Tools | Extensions). Disable unwanted ones.
3) Run a full scan with MalwareBytes Free.

TX Hans. I have scanned the add-ons and removed "junk" there. I will however try the Malware App you refer to. Lets hope this does the trick. Will let you know.

Rudi

If all else fails, try a "System Restore".
Cheers, Claude.

Thats a good suggestion. Even though its been a few weeks, her PC is not subject to many updates and changes...Claude wrote:If all else fails, try a "System Restore".
If MalwareBytes doesn't work, then I may just go that route. Cheers!

Rudi,
Since this seems to have started after doing some online survey,
I would also try "AutoRuns" from Sysinternals.com now owned by MS.
It will give you a VERY detailed list of everything that is loaded on System Startup. You can disable, re-enable or delete any entries from within the program.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just a reminder that 'AutoRuns" must be 'run as Administrator' for any deletes or disables to be effective.
