A Good Reference Book

Post by Garylee »

Can someone recommend a good book or website that will tell me how to clean up and tune up my computer? I have read DUMMIES and enjoyed it. I am an old, retired old man with no computer experience.

Thank you

Assuming you're running Win 7, how about this website?

More seriously though. Lots of us here use the :free: version of a utillity called Ccleaner to tidy up our PCs:
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
In the first instance simply download it, install it, taking care to opt out of any offers for other software that might be included and then run it with the default settings.

The other freebie to download and run is Malwarebytes:

This will compliment what ever anti-virus application you are using.

Please don't spend money on a book based on this subject.
There areso many good articles on the web to assist you to get this job done.

I live by HowTo Geek...their articles are easy to follow, well documented and full of screenshots.
Follow through on the advice in the following article which will definitely help to optimize your PC...
The article is actually a tutorial that teaches concepts...HowTo Geek School
