I sent a folder of files to the Recycle Bin then emptied the bin.
I've just discovered I must have highlighted and clicked the wrong folder,
Is there a recommended file recovery programme I can try to see if I can get them back?
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You might try Recuva. If possible, download the portable version to a USB drive and run it from there. For if you download the installer to your hard disk and run it, the installation may overwrite your deleted files.
Best wishes,
Hans

And for anybody reading this thread who doesn't need to recover any files. NOW would be a really good time to install Recuva, so that you have it available when needed.

Recuva should do it for you as long as you haven't written too much new data to your hard drive. If you have, then maybe you'll hit it lucky and it hasn't overwritten the files you want to recover.
Definitely worth a try, using Hans' method.

Sounds like you may also want to review the effectiveness of your backup procedures.

Unfortunately yes, but thankfully they weren't too important. A few puzzles which I can replicate, or near enough, thanks to information which I have elsewhere on my computer.viking33 wrote:ALL of them overwritten?? That's a bummer! Re: Can I recover files deleted via emptying the Recycle Bin
You can't recover deleted files after an empty recycle bin without the help of software because you can't see them at all. And there is no way to manually restore empty recycle bin. You need a professional data recovery tool to scan your computer for the deleted files.
Steps to recover emptied recycle bin with EaseUS Data Recovery:
Step 1: Download and install EaseUS Data Recovery software on your PC and launch it to begin using. On the home interface that appears, select “Recycle Bin Recovery” mode so the software focuses on your lost Recycle Bin files.
Step 2: If you know the specific file you are searching for, select the file type upon prompt to make the process faster and click “Scan” to initiate a search.
Step 3: AnyRecover will quickly scan your emptied Recycle Bin and present the results of its search as a list of deleted files.
Step 4: Preview these files to be sure you have the files you need. Once you find the files you seek, select them and click “Recover” to retrieve your lost files.
