In previous versions, when saving as a template from an Office application (e.g. - .dotx, .pptx, etc.), Office would automatically change the location to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates.
However, in Office 2013 this location is used to store templates from Office.com. To separate personal templates from Office.com templates, the default personal location was moved to C:\Users\username\My Documents\Custom Office Templates. All Office applications will save templates to this folder by default.

According to this webpage, Word 2010 still uses "My Templates", but in Word 2013 it changed to "Personal"

It depends on how you have things set up and how you access your templates. The location of the normal template has not changed and is the folder you are thinking about as My Templates. http://addbalance.com/word/normaltemplate.htm#Find
Word 2013 changed things up some. http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide/fi ... 013Changes Essentially, the user templates folder, where the normal template is stored, may no longer be easily accessible using File > New. Instead, there can be a folder for the default save location for custom templates (Custom Office Templates by default). Those folders can be designated to be the same folder.
Templates stored in the folder designated as Workgroup Templates http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide/te ... #Workgroup will show up under File > New > Custom as Shared.

That's too much credit Diana
I found the last link that Charles provided very hand too (at least from my perspective).

Not at all, Rudi! You deserved every bit of it. As much as I appreciate the background info and the links (and I WILL get to looking at it all when I have time - ha, time, what is that? I have heard of it, lol! - And don't let anyone tell you that oldies have lots of it! I am 70 years old and I rush my days from start to somewhat beyond finish!) I wanted that particular bit of info pronto! And there it was in black and white so succinctly! - or was it blue and white? I can't remember and can't see it from here, more lol!
I don't know if you drink beer, but if you do, here is a mug of beer! If you don't, please change it for another slab of chocolate! I hope you like chocolate!
