Does anyone here have or know about these machines? 'Er indoors wants one but I have not clue about choosing among the many models? I read about making hot soup with them but find no indication that they have heating elements nor in which models they might exist.

Re: Vitamix Blender
Hi Bob,
Have a look at this video.
There is no heating elements involved, it is simply the friction of the rotary blades that heat up the soup.
Very interesting...I NEVER knew this would happen!
BTW: As for the model...no idea what to choose...?!

Enjoy the soups and other beverages.
Sounds strange to say as I have only thought of blenders for cold drinks and crushing ice!

Re: Vitamix Blender
A scientific note on the video:
I was wondering why the soup came out to be a nice yellow colour.
Usually when you mix red and green 'colours', you get a muddy brown, but when you mix red 'light' with green 'light', you get yellow.
Also, when the soup was still blended during the initial phase, it was muddy brown, but after the 5 minute blend the particulates were chopped up very fine and the mix was much more yellow; maybe due to the consistency of the mix.

Re: Vitamix Blender
I went to Amazon yesterday after making the OP. The blender was on my doorstep at 7:00 am this morning.
That kind of speed of delivery amazes me. Yes, Amazon has a fulfillment center in Dallas which, as far as I know, is the closest to me at about 115-120 miles distance. They managed to pick, box, deliver to UPS and then to my door is a little more than 12 hours.
Amazing or Amazon?
It's a bit spooky, actually. They must have perfected mind reading and pre-positioning of product based on their mind melds.

Re: Vitamix Blender
That is VERY impressive. I hope your blended recipes will be as good as the delivery!
So what model did you go with? As you said, there were so many...Did you search for a specific model or just pick one art random from a list?

I bought the 6300. From descriptions and specs, it seemed to have all the things she wanted.Rudi wrote:That is VERY impressive. I hope your blended recipes will be as good as the delivery!

I've been hearing, on podcasts, the past year about Amazon's new techniques for delivery.BobH wrote:...They managed to pick, box, deliver to UPS and then to my door is a little more than 12 hours. ...
Things like being able to predict what stuff will be required where, and storing a small set of items in tiny depots every 20 miles or so; I may not have got that right, but this feature is a multi-level supply chain where the item is distributed from the major warehouse (in your case 150 miles away) to micro-sites in local cities.
They do lost of other keen stuff, too, with data and predictions.
