Single Screenshot of Pages that Scroll Offscreen
Is it possible to capture the data displayed as a scrolling screen that covers more than one's monitor can display?
I use FastStone Capture for screenshots but have not discovered a way to expand the selection tool as the data scrolls down the screen. If FSC cannot do it, is there a screen capture tool that will?
EDITED: I want to be able to paste all the screens into a Word document. Screenpresso allows me to capture them as a video, but Word doesn't handle a video format (or does it?).
TIA

Hans (I think) swears by FSC, and I can recall him mentioning this is a scrolling screen option.
I however swear by ScreenPresso and it (I know for a fact) has a very good scrolling screen capture.

Do you need some assistance with capturing a scrolling screen shot or are you going to experiment yourself?
I'll be happy to assist if you need.

Re: Single Screenshot of Pages that Scroll Offscreen
Faststone Capture does a perfectly good job of capturing scrolling windows. I tried to get a screenshot to show the option, but every time I tried to do that it hid itself so that I could capture the window behind it!

Duck Capture will capture a scrolling window.
I tried to submit the screenshot but it was too big.

Re: Single Screenshot of Pages that Scroll Offscreen
Hi,
Someone recently asked me about FastStone Capture and inquired how it is possible to do a scrolling capture of a wide Excel spreadsheet.
I activated a portable version of the app I have on my PC and tried to capture a wide sheet of data. Unlike ScreenPress to which I am familiar, if I click the scrolling button in FastStone, it gives a red border around the Excel sheet, but if I click the mouse button it captures immediately and does not allow me to scroll for the rest. How does one capture a scrolling window with FastStone?
TX

Does http://www.faststonesoft.net/DN/FSC_Tutorial.pdf help? - see page 24 on.
(I know it's for an older version but it may be the same.)

Re: Single Screenshot of Pages that Scroll Offscreen
Does this person have the latest freeware version (5.3) or a recent paid version? The 'Capture scrolling window' feature has been enhanced since 5.3.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Single Screenshot of Pages that Scroll Offscreen
Hi,
Not sure. It is probably the freeware version.
I was testing it on ver.5.3.
BTW: The window scroll needed to be horizontal.
After Leif posted the manual I read through it and tried it on a vertical scroll (in Excel) It auto scrolls vertically (the result not being useful as it it "jumpy" and scrambled anyways!). So it seems the scroll feature only works vertically...I assume its optimized for web page usage.

Re: Single Screenshot of Pages that Scroll Offscreen
The free version only supports vertical scrolling. Recent paid versions have a custom scrolling option.

Re: Single Screenshot of Pages that Scroll Offscreen
I have now checked the paid version of Faststone Capture. It does support horizontal scrolling in Custom Scroll mode, but it works less well than when capturing vertical scrolling. It stopped before the horizontal scroll bar moved all the way to the right.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Single Screenshot of Pages that Scroll Offscreen
Can you capture Office app content...like a wide or tall sheet?
I ask as it does not do a great job and the result is stuttered and duplicated...

Re: Single Screenshot of Pages that Scroll Offscreen
Earlier versions (among which the last free versions) had issues with vertical scrolling, but that works perfectly in recent versions. As I mentioned, horizontal scrolling is limited, and there is no provision for scrolling both horizontally and vertically.
Best wishes,
Hans

TX.
These are just questions out of interest and for future reference.
As you well know, I'm still using ScreenPresso.
Cheers
