Mailwasher - blocking Asian characters

Post by ChrisGreaves »

Is anyone else having trouble blocking Asian characters?
I am using Mailwasher Pro 6.5.4 and using, I think, the default filters (image attached inline).
I have pasted one of the filters in the CODE block below.
About half my spam is Asian-character, and about 20% of that seems to escape the filters.
I figure that any Asian character in any part of an email counts as spam, to me.

Code: Select all

If the Subject field contains RegExpr"Content-type[^\n]*(\n[^\n]*)?charset=(3D)?"?(gb2312|euc-cn|big5)" or the From field contains RegExpr"Content-type[^\n]*(\n[^\n]*)?charset=(3D)?"?(gb2312|euc-cn|big5)" then mark the message as mail to be deleted.

Geez, what mailing lists are you on, Chris?
I rarely or never receive emails with Asian characters in them.

I'm afraid it is many years since I used Mailwasher and when I did it was only the free version and our resident expert on that application (BigAl) is sadly no longer with us. All I can think to suggest is that perhaps the Asian text that gets through isn't actually text rather it is a graphic?
