I've noticed that when I backspace to make a correction expecting each tap of the key to move one space to the left while removing the character whole words are removed instead. Tapping several times removes several words. It doesn't happen all the time but does so often enough be a real pain. It happens in various applications but I see in most often in Thunderbird while typing emails. I've checked the keyboard and keys seem to be functioning properly. What else should I check?

Re: Backspace Taking Last Word Instead of Last Character
A quick Google suggests that it may be either an issue with your Ctrl key (Ctrl & Backspace deletes whole words) or you may have toggled your insert mode by accidentally hitting your Ins key.
