I just ran a Check Disk (Scan Disk) on Windows 8, and it ran was executed in scan mode on a volume snapshot. Windows reported that there were no errors and a Check disk was not required. I ran it anyway and the whole thing took about 5 minutes. I did not have to restart.
Is this Check disk as thorough or effective as the Windows 7 Check disk, which required restarting and usually took a couple of hours to run?

Re: Check Disk (Scan Disk) on Windows 8
Windows 8 has improved disk health maintenance - see Redesigning chkdsk and the new NTFS health model.
Best wishes,
