Running an application after changing its file name
When downloading new software, I always save it locally before running it so I always have a record as to which software has run on my computer. When choosing Save as …, does changing the file name in any way impact the setup application or its execution?

No, that should not matter.

That's what I do, usually to put the version number into the file name, if it doesn't have it already, and possibly the date it was created, if it wasn't very shortly before the download date.
