Any ideas as to how I can make a desktop shortcut to open this dialogue in one click?
Alternatively it can be found by right-clicking the network icon in the systray.
I've tried right-clicking the link in network and sharing centre (no options); dragging that link to my desktop (no effect), searching for "wireless connection status" in Start Search (only finds Network&Sharing Centre, not this specific box).
It's only 4 clicks to get to it the long way round, but I am rather lazy, so it would be nice to create a desktop shortcut.
TIA
:)
It's located in Control Panel/Network/Network And Sharing Centre/ View Status.Shortcut to Wireless Network Connection Status

Instructions for Windows 7, the exact steps for Vista are slightly different.
From the Network and Sharing Center click on Change adapter settings
Right click and drag the Wireless Network Connection to your desktop

Fantastic. Thanks Stuart, I should probably have thought to ask Google too.

You might get a bit closer with a shortcut to C:\WINDOWS\system32\ncpa.cpl (which is the equivalent of control.exe ncpa.cpl) but after that you're on your own!
... too late!
... and it looks from this writeup that the CONTROL method wouldn't work, because there aren't any parameters available for ncpa.cpl which could get you to the right Wireless Connection panel.
