Hi, Can anyone help?
PowerPoint is used very heavily, in one particular department within my firm, to create reports. The reports tend to have a large number of excel charts included. The issue that has been raised with me is that when opening the PowerPoint report the excel chart links are updating automatically. I have noted in Excel that there is an option checked "update links to other documents" and was wondering if this was impacting the links being updated in PowerPoint?
Thanks
Jack

I don't think the Excel setting affects PowerPoint. If you don't want the charts to be updated, you should break the links.
Best wishes,

Re: PowerPoint 2007 - Automatically update links
Apparently they still require the links but would like prefer the default to be to manually update. The automatically update links when a presentation is opened is causing frustrations when there are a large amount of charts. Is there a solution?
Thanks
Jack

Re: PowerPoint 2007 - Automatically update links
Morning Hans
I do not appear to have that option under Prepare. I have Properties, Inspect Document, Encrypt Document, Restrict Permission, Add a Digital Signature, Mark as Final and Run Compatibility Checker. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
Jack

Re: PowerPoint 2007 - Automatically update links
It's a bit deceptive. When you click Prepare, you don't see the 'Edit links to files' option:
Hover the mouse over the downward arrow to scroll the list. The option will scroll into view:

Thank you Hans. One more question, if you can help. Do you know if I can set this via the registry or a GPO setting?

Re: PowerPoint 2007 - Automatically update links
The setting is stored in the presentation, it's not an application-wide setting...
