I am running Vista 32 and have installed Windows Media Player, RealPlayer and also Quicktime. All are latest versions.
Do I need all these or will WMP now handle most audio/video formats? My uses are listening to webcasts/podcasts and watching eg news video's either downloaded or 'live' on-line.
What audio/video player's do I really need

I only use Windows Media Player with K-Lite Codec Pack; this lets me play almost anything, including downloaded Flash video (.flv)
I used to have RealPlayer on my previous PC but I hadn't used it for years when I got a new PC last year, so I saw no reason to install it.
I haven't installed QuickTime either.

Thanks Hans for your input. In the back of my mind I somehow have the 'feeling' that eg Quicktime plays something that other don't ... but that is most likely of old. Have you any experience of WinAmp as a player?

QuickTime has its own media format (.mov). My impression is that this format isn't used as much as it used to be.
I have no experience with WinAmp. My needs are fairly basic and Windows Media Player serves them well (I only use the player part, not the library component etc.)

Re: What audio/video player's do I really need
The only two players I use are Windows Media Player and VLC (VideoLAN media player). VLC supports almost all known media formats, and will often play something which WMP won't. I long since got rid of the RealPlayer/Real Alternative and QuickTime/QuickTime Alternative as offering nothing extra.
