Winter
We're at the start of the most wintry period in ten years. People are cross-country skiing in the streets, kids are riding sleds down the hills.
It looks very picturesque. A color photo:

It's fun if you don't have to travel - public transport has been cancelled, and most roads are dangerous for motorized traffic...

Re: Winter
My information is that the dutch authorities have issued a "code red" weather warning because of the snow.
I actually went out into the very cold garden this morning and measured the depth so far. At about 10am it was just a little over 9cm and it has continued snowing here albeit very lightly.

Winter this year is quite beautiful
I still pine for the beautiful white Winters that we used to have from October until Easter.
But this year has been a good improvement so far on the last few years. We have had some nice snow already , spread out with just a bit of wet muddy thaw out periods in between.
We have forecasts ( and warnings in some areas in North Germany ) of a lot of snow in the next week or two, with temperatures cold enough that it will all stay around for a while.
The last couple of days I have been shoring up a few temporary buildings and coverings we have around the building sites to take the weight of the expected heavy snow. That used to be a routine job in the autumn, but I haven’t had to do it for many years.

The Swedes are well built for such long trips in the snow, I guess. Its in his blood I guess, - it’s a long haul, but I guess it’s a way for him to by - pass the corona checks and restrictions at the airport when he visits the homeland :)

What was the approx. temperature for that day Hans, and how much cm/inches of snow was measured?

Re: Winter
It was about -5°C yesterday, with a strong easterly wind. About 10 cm (4 inches) of snow. It's steadily getting colder: -7°C today, and down to -12°C in the coming weekend...
Best wishes,
Hans

Well, I had to scrape my windshield one day last week. Does that count?

Re: Winter
TX Hans. That is chilly! As a matter of fact, your weather for the week does not rise above zero. Gosh! Sticking your hand in your fridge will be warmer than outside!!! I'll keep to the Mediterranean weather this side of the equator.
A warm cheers to you.

It's much less windy now, so as long as you dress for the cold, it's fine.
