Update Size
Hello, how can I find the Windows update size in my Windows 10 Home / Version 1909?
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

Re: Update Size
It may depend on what version you are updating from, so could be anything from 194MB to 405MB.
See Microsoft Update Catalog

Hello Leif,
I am not updating to another version, its an update for the version I'm using. I seem to get it every month.

Re: Update Size
That KB update in my environment (Win10 Pro) was shown as an Optional update. This is the second time I have been offered optional updates. The first was last month and now this. I elected to bypass both optional updates. Researching the "option" approach indicates that the fixes will eventually end up in a future non-optional update.

Re: Update Size
Just saw that update (4550945) Bob. I passed on last month's "optional" as well. As far as I'm aware, these are "non-security" releases that will most likely be included in the next "non-optional" update.

Re: Update Size
Hello Hans, I have always been in the habit of clicking 'Check for updates' since my Win 7 days.
Bye the way, I found the size of the KB4550945 update from the above link, still looking for the size of other updates.

Re: Update Size
Can you not get that by following the link I gave above to Microsoft Update Catalog and entering in the appropriate update number?Ted Myers wrote:Bye the way, I found the size of the KB4550945 update from the above link, still looking for the size of other updates.

Re: Update Size
Unless you have download constraints, why are you concerned with the update size? It will vary with each update and has almost no relation to what the effect is on the installation size. BTW, you might periodically want to run Disk Cleanup in Control Panel and clean up system files. That will allow you to clean up old Windows Update files. You may also use Settings | System | Storage to remove old files.

Re: Update Size
I have no download restrictions, it's just that my download speed is very vey slow. I thought, the first time I accessed WU that there was a problem and not having the WU size shown asked a friend who suggested trying the Windows Update MiniTool. I was not impressed with it at first but it has got better. My WU is still at default settings and it tends to start before I access it.JoeP wrote:Unless you have download constraints, why are you concerned with the update size? My pc is only a month old but do use Ccleaner.
Thanks.
