Causing only one sub-level to show when expanding a level
In the Word 2016 Document Map, is it possible to cause only one sub-level to show when expanding a level? My version causes everything in a particular level to expand when I click the arrow next to the the level.

If you collapse a level, Word will "remember" that, so if you collapse a higher level and then expand it again, the lower level will remain collapsed.

Re: Causing only one sub-level to show when expanding a leve
When I open a document, the Document Map is set to Level 3. When I expand a level, everything underneath it is exposed. I want only Level 4 to show. Is it possible to set it that way by default?
The only way I have found to avoid everything from expanding is to first right-click the Document Map and set Show Heading Levels to some level. After I do that, expanding a Level only expands the Sub-Level. Is it possible to get the Document Map to function in this way without having to right-click the Document Map and set Show Heading Levels to a particular level?

I don't think so, but perhaps one of our Word experts will have a suggestion.
Best wishes,
