(I haven't tried it in later versions)
1. Type some text into a text box.
2. Mouse-grab the handle in the centre of the bottom border of the text box.
3. Drag the mouse upwards, rolling the bottom edge of the text box over the top edge.
4. The text is inverted!

Re: PowerPoint 2000 trick
It works in PowerPoint 2007 too, and it also works if you drag any of the handles in the top edge below the bottom edge.
Best wishes,

In 2007 and 2010 all one needs to is click on the green dot and rotate the box.

Re: PowerPoint 2000 trick
Hi Dave,
Rotating works in earlier versions of PowerPoint too (at least 2002 and 2003), but you may up with a text box rotated over slightly less or more than 180 degrees. The trick Chris Greaves describes rotates over exactly 180 degrees, but may resize the text box. Each has its place, I think.

Re: PowerPoint 2000 trick
The real trick is that I discover something new (to me), and then everyone chips in with something extra to add to it. I often feel as if I have written out a recipe for plain cake mix, tasty enough as is, but then everyone says "try adding dried fruit" or what have you.HansV wrote:The trick Chris Greaves describes ..

Re: PowerPoint 2000 trick
Well, since you are still using Office 2000 and there has been several NEW releases since, it appears that there are newer tricks than those on 2000!

[True Confession]I have Office[TM] XP on the Big Beige Box and Office 2010 beta on the IBM server, but do most of my R&D in Office 2000 on this laptop because some of my clients still run that. The theory is that anything developed on 2000 will run on later versions, right? [/True Confession].
P.S. Can one trademark numbers such as 2000[TM]?

I think that just may be a "maybe" will run on later versions. I seem to remeber that there has been a statement or two about macros not working in 2007 and 2010 that had worked for years in earlier versions. The theory is that anything developed on 2000 will run on later versions, right? If you hold the shift key down and then rotate the box, it will stop at certain degree settings (like level).HansV wrote:Hi Dave,

But I like the pull through trick.

I went back to '97; yes it works there.BobSullivan wrote:But I like the pull through trick.
Office 97 and 2000 allow you (Format, Text Box, Text Box) to Rotate the text through 90 degrees.
As far as I can tell this effects a one-time rotation of 90 degrees.
That is, one can't repeatedly rotate 90 to obtain 180, 270.
The pull-through trick does effect a reversal of the 90, thereby obtaining a 270 rotation.
