I've been very stupidly buying a Soniq TV, almost two years ago (read: out of warranty), which has developed a strange problem:
Switching it on can take a few seconds but more likely a few minutes. Lately, it's been a few days. (Tried to watch a program last Thursday, it finally turned on on Tuesday (on its own)).
Initially, I toughed it might be the remote control, checked the voltage of the batteries (perfectly fine) and decided to press the on/off button on the TV itself. There are absolutely no buttons on the TV, not a single one .
So, my question is, does anyone have an idea, suggestion, how to fix the startup time problem (yesterday it took only 10 minutes to startup)

I'm no electrician, but this page points to bad capacitors? Watching YouTube videos on the topic might also help. Just my 2 cents.

Re: TV problems
That COULD be a possibility but that solution seems to have become a routine fix answer. ( along with the tech saying "is the power cord plunged in and the switch on?"Rudi wrote:I'm no electrician, but this page points to bad capacitors? The power supply does appear to be the problem but not necessarily because of bad caps.
This lazy EE would opt for a new supply, since the price quoted for new caps ( not including labor\time ) is right around the price for a new 600W compatible PS.

Re: TV problems
Interestingly, this morning, it took just a few seconds to be fully operational

Maybe you didn't switch it off yesterday?Claude wrote:Interestingly, this morning, it took just a few seconds to be fully operational
(Maybe you should give AlanMiller a call. I'm sure he will have some sound advice (in a manner of speaking))

Re: TV problems
Why switch it off? Does it not have the equivalent of a 'sleep' mode?

There's always the option to unplug it from the wall.Claude wrote:...There are absolutely no buttons on the TV, not a single one...

Some older ones had knobs which had to be turned.

Yes, but messin' about with those knobs could lead one into a lot of trouble, too!

Re: TV problems
Dumb question here. You say there are no buttons on the TV. I have a Samsung Smart TV and there are no buttons. But, on the right side of the frame, there are "touch-screen" features to turn the unit on/off, adjust volume etc. Might your's not have the same type of features?Claude wrote:Initially, I toughed it might be the remote control, checked the voltage of the batteries (perfectly fine) and decided to press the on/off button on the TV itself.
