I missed the release of 38.7.0 on March 14. On March 25, version 38.7.1 was released. Both are very minor updates,
Download from the internal update mechanism or from Download in your language.
This month should have seen the release of the first major update to Thunderbird in a long time: Thunderbird 45, but apparently it wasn't ready for prime time.

Same results as you did, Bob.
Maybe the U.S. doesn't need an update?

Re: Update: Thunderbird 38.7.1 released
I did a full download and install instead of the 'check for updates' method. This brought me up to version 38.7.1.

Re: Update: Thunderbird 38.7.1 released
Mozilla may have blocked the internal update mechanism from detecting 38.7, to balance the load on their servers, or because the update is so minor.
Best wishes,

The download page in the link in the first post provides 38.7.1 for both 32-bit and 64-bit Linux.
Best wishes,

Re: Update: Thunderbird 38.7.1 released
I'm still tentatively finding my way around Linux! Having downloaded the latest version (38.7.1) from your link, but failing dismally to find any method of installing it, I found the following note on the Mozilla/Thunderbird website:-
"Note: If you run Linux (such as Ubuntu) and use your Linux distribution's packaged version of Thunderbird, you will need to wait for an updated package to be released to its package repository."
The version of Thunderbird that I'm using came as part of Linux's distribution packaging - thus I guess I'll have to wait patiently (my system currently states I'm up to date!).
I must say, the more I use Thunderbird, the more I like it.
