Change Language of Windows Defender
I have a Windows 8.1 32 bit tablet that came preset in Japanese. I have changed the default language (including the system) to English. However Windows Defender remains in Japanese. Does anyone know of a way to get it into English? Note: I've used Region > Administrative > Copy Settings. Thanks.

Hi Cah,
A Microsoft Community post provides this as an answer. I cannot test to verify it, but it appears to resolve for others who read the post.
Follow these steps:
Open Control Panel.
Tap or click Clock, Language, and Region.
Tap or click Region, and then tap or click the Administrative tab.
Under the Welcome screen and new user accounts, tap or click Copy settings... and approve if you are prompted.
Your new display language, input language, format, and location should be listed under "Current User." If this is correct, select the boxes to copy your current settings to Welcome screen and system accounts and to New user accounts. Then, tap or click OK.
After that Windows 8.1 was 100% in English.

Thanks Rudi, but as I mentioned I've done that. Everything appears to be in English except Windows Defender.

Re: Change Language of Windows Defender
Actually, I don't think you can uninstall Windows Defender in Windows 8 and later - it is a built-in Windows component.
You can turn it on and offm as described in How to disable or enable Windows Defender in Windows 8.1. I doubt that that will be enough to change its display language.

Thanks for the replies - as Hans said turning it off and on didn't do anything to change the language. I don't know a method for uninstalling and redownloading - it appears baked in.

Claude, your first link was to Google and your second to Microsoft. If you have a link to an actual file that would be great. I have been unable to find one.

Re: Change Language of Windows Defender
Claude, as far as I know, it isn't possible to uninstall Windows Defender in Window 8 / 8.1 / 10, nor can one download Windows Defender for these versions of Windows.
Best wishes,
Hans
