I have been experiencing odd keyboard behaviour and I suspect that it relates to my use of Windows Update, and perhaps some of the features that have been installed prior to "Get Windows 10".
My Alt Gr key doesn't allow me to insert accented characters
Pressing the space bar doesn't accept a focussed button in dialogs
Pressing a Windows Key shortcut will first take me to the Start screen.
Has anyone else encountered this? And resolved it?
Also, on occasion, I have an icon in the tray offering me a touch keyboard, even though my screen isn't a touch screen! (And touch features appear for MS Excel.)

Re: Odd keyboard behaviour
What software do you have running on the problem computer? There are reports that software such as Remote Desktop Connection, Windows XP Mode (Virtual PC) and Visual Studio may cause keyboard problems.
Best wishes,
Hans

Hi Hans.
None of that virtual software, but VS 2010 and 2013 Community.

Re: Odd keyboard behaviour
There are several mentions of Visual Studio spontaneously changing the keyboard layout. Have you checked the keyboard and language settings in the control panel?
Best wishes,
Hans

Language and Region, and some input settings, all seem okay @ English UK.
I've had VS installed for quite a while, the only changes I believe I've made have been from Windows Update.
I also sometimes get a GSXUX.exe has failed message. This relates to the "Get Windows 10" feature, which I resolved previously by un-installing a particular Windows update. In all cases I was hoping (optimistically!) that future Windows updates would fix these issues.
Ah well, I'll probably have to live with these annoyances. Grr.
Every now and then it offers me a touch keyboard (in the tray) even though I don't have a touch screen!?

Re: Odd keyboard behaviour
Press Windows key + R.
Type services.msc then press Enter or click OK.
Scroll down to "Touch screen keyboard and handwriting panel"
Double-click this entry.
Click the "Startup Type" dropdown and change it to "Disabled".
Click OK, then close the Services window.

When I pressed Windows R my screen flickered ;)
Thank you. I did this before. It still says Disabled but it didn't prevent the touch keyboard being offered to me earlier.
