First time I've tried a speed test in decades. Here, speed is OK; accuracy, yuk!

Re: How fast can you type...
I decide to take your challenge and the results are below. I haven't done any serious typing for several years but I do enjoy typing messages, etc. This was fun! Thanks!Rudi wrote:I was not fortunate to be trained in typing and I type with a max of 4 fingers, but mostly with my index fingers. Although I have to look at the keyboard, my fingers naturally go to the keys without having to look where they are. The disadvantage I have with typing from a page or screen...copying words as in this test is that I have to look up at the words and down at the keyboard continuously and I loose speed this way
Anyways....irrespective of whetehr you are trainied or not in typing...how fast can YOU type...AND, who is the fastest typist of us all ( challenge)
Post you results for proof... (if you want to.)

Re: How fast can you type...
Thanks, Rudi, but I fear nothing will help. I've tried all kinds of courses and training aids but the best I can do is use my index fingers. Even at that, I mainly use my right index finger.Rudi wrote:If you have a webcam, and another half chocolate slab...my wife will give you some lessons...PaulB wrote:I tried the test... Congrats Stuart. Based on the time of your post you may even have done that with your eyes closed (and a few ZZZZ's - unless you have traveled west of me!).
VERY impressive.
Unfortunately your 1st place has recently been pipped by Skitterbug.

Skitterbug....
73 WPM!! At that speed your fingers really do skitter around the keyboard.
MANY Congrats.
You are the outright leader at this moment ( and its hard to see anyone else (besides Stuart) challenging that).

Re: How fast can you type...
never was a good typist. I still need to look at the board more than I would like but this is much better than 10 years ago. Thank goodness I am not a court recorder.

Re: How fast can you type...
In 2 attempts I got the same score 42 WPM but the second attmept should have been higher as they had spelled colour incorrectly as color and I did not!!Rudi wrote:I was not fortunate to be trained in typing and I type with a max of 4 fingers, but mostly with my index fingers. Timelord...
If you didn't get all those errors you would have beaten my score of 34 WPM. The errors count heavily against the end score. You may want to try again and type slightly slower with emphasis on accuracy and you will probably beat me.
