Sadly, the map is not self-explanatory.

Almost real time lightning strikes. (Sorry, I thought the subject line (thunder and lightning, albeit in German) would be sufficient.)

Re: Donder und Blitzen!
When I first read the title to this thread, I thought it was about Donner and Blitzen, Santa's reindeer...

OK. Try this:John Gray wrote:Sadly, the map is not self-explanatory.
(I have identified the TStorm that woke me at three this morning before heading on to terrify small children in the St Lawrence valley ...)

It's even more fun when you click on the Detectors and Sounds buttons.

Clicking the Sounds button doesn't do anything on my laptop. Should I be hearing something?BobH wrote:It's even more fun when you click on the Detectors and Sounds buttons.

The sounds work for me in Firefox (31) but not in Internet Explorer (11).
Best wishes,

Re: Donder und Blitzen!
It works in Chrome too...though it sounds like a small crackle. At first I thought some port was receiving too mach power and was shooting sparks...

That's great stuff! And yes, in Chrome, it sounds sort of like a Geiger counter.

Very nice, good resource, thanks.
It's actually Donner not Donder, Donders are the kebabs

Re: Donder und Blitzen!
To play Lounge Pedant for a moment: the names of Santa's reindeer were originally Dunder and Blixem; this was later changed to Donder and Blixen, and finally to Donner and Blitzen in 'Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer'.
See Donner or Dunder
The name of the kebabs is doner (with one n), from the Turkish döner.

You may want to lay low for a while as John might seek you out and Blitzen you for taking over that role!HansV wrote:To play Lounge Pedant for a moment...

Re: Donder und Blitzen!
My very first Lounge Pedant entry: You need Blitzen to make Donner, so the topic to this thread should be Blitzen und Donner
Cheers, Claude.
