When I open a new tab in IE, this text appears in the address bar: C:\Documents and Settings\Graeme\Application Data\parentalcontrol\tabwelcome_tabwelcome_en.html.html - because in the past I installed some parental control software which has since been removed. So each new page displays the Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage error.
Does anyone know where IE should be looking when I open a new tab and how to change it please?

Re: New Tab
Thanks Hans
I changed the selection to ‘A blank page’ and new tabs are now blank.
If I change it back to ‘The new tab page’ the text above still appears in the address bar. Is there a way of changing this to something else?

Re: New Tab
Not sure if this will work, but give it a try:
- Start Regedit.exe.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs.
- Take a look at the entry named Tabs in the right hand pane.
- Is its value the path that you mentioned? If so, double-click Tab, and change the value to
res://ieframe.dll/tabswelcome.htm
- Click OK.

Re: New Tab
Brilliant! Thank you.
This is the page my laptop displays on a new tab. But I couldn't describe it as I've lost the charging lead!
