Re: Best FREE Software (Used and Rated by Loungers)
Recently I needed to print a single page from a *.tiff file. This file format is common after scanning a document and the scanner produces images of a multi-page document. Normal image viewers cannot work with TIF files and if they could read it, they only show the first page of the file and you cannot access the other pages for viewing or printing. Brava Reader is FREE and is a clean and impressive TIFF viewer/reader that can do this task with ease.

Re: Best FREE Software (Used and Rated by Loungers)
Random Copy is a utility useful for filling a portable MP3 audio player with music randomly selected from a larger collection situated on a computer hard drive. This is a good idea if you can't make up your mind what you want to hear, you prefer to be surprised by a selection of music you may not have heard in a while, or want to hear familiar music juxtaposed in novel combinations.
It is a great application and has a surprisingly good array of tools/settings to tweak how you want the files to be copied.
Well done Bernd. (Consider an optional donation if you favour this app!)
BTW: It is NOT just for music.
This utility can be used to copy random files, or images from multiple locations into a single folder, flash drive or CD/DVD.
An alternative app that does a similar random copying task is Copy Random Files. Smaller and less feature full. It looks easy and useful, but I have not tested this one!

I said "Normal". IrfanView is not normal.
Jus' kidding...
On a serious note: TX for that info. I don't use IrfanView as was not aware of it in my generalization.
I don't doubt it can open the TIF file, but can you confirm if it is able to view and scroll through all the pages of a multipage TIF file (or do you only see the first page)?

Re: Best FREE Software (Used and Rated by Loungers)
Windows XP came with "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer".
In Windows Vista, it is named "Windows Photo Gallery".
In Windows 7, it is "Windows Photo Viewer".
Each of these has the ability to display all pages of a multi-page TIFF file, so you don't need to install any third-party software.
The screenshot below is from the Dutch version of the Windows 7 Photo Viewer, but you'll get the idea.

Good to know...this Windows photo viewer is not set as my default image viewer and it has very limited features compared to other third party viewers. Now I know why it is there...to view TIFF files

Nice! I might have to give up my EXCEL version of this function.Rudi wrote:Random Copy is a utility useful for filling a portable MP3 audio player with music randomly selected from a larger collection situated on a computer hard drive. "In CD Mode the main purpose is to fill the content of a cd with at least space left as possible. For that purpose you have to set the size of the burned media. Please notice, that this is independent from the size of the source selection. If the source selection is bigger than the size of a media, you get more than one cd. So I think its smart to set the size of the source collection as a multiple of your cd-size. "
Out of interest, have you tried the multiple-CD issue?

Re: Best FREE Software (Used and Rated by Loungers)
Nope Chris,
I have been using this exclusively for a flash drive. I fill the flash drive with random music from my PC to play in the car. Each few weeks or so, I clear the drive and write a new batch to the flash so the music in the car is always different. I have never used it to write to CD's.

I think I need a new girl friend; one who has a car that takes flash people with flash drives.
