I have Microsoft Office 2007. A long time ago I created a long and complex Powerpoint presentation with music spread over all slides. However, in a new presentation, I have been trying for a day and an evening to do the same. I have followed all my previous notes, but for the life of me I can't work it out. In the previous presentation, there are no loudspeaker icons visible at all not even in Design View. Nor is there any hint of their presence in the list of animations. All I can see in 2 places is the name of the wav file I used and the settings that I have been recreating without any success.
Thank you for any help.

Re: Continuous play of a piece of music
Are you referring to the setting to play across all slides?
Sorry, the image is from PPT2013. But if should have the same options in the ribbon version you have.

In PowerPoint 2007:
- Select the Audio icon.
- Activate the Animations tab of the ribbon.
- In the Animations group, click Custom Animation.
- In the Custom Animation task pane, click the dropdown arrow to the right of the sound item in the list.
- Select Effect Options from the dropdown menu.
- In the 'Stop playing' section, select After:, then specify the slide number of the last slide.
- Click OK.

I had done all of that (except that I said Slide 999), thanks, Hans, but it still isn't working.

Re: Continuous play of a piece of music
Haa! All is well, now. Thanks for your time and trouble, Hans.
I think what must have happened from all my fiddling, the file must have been corrupted out of sheer confusion.
What I did was to open a blank Powerpoint file and copy and paste the slides in from Slide Sorter. Then, still in Slide Sorter, I selected the music file in Slide 1 and because I wasn't able to get to the sound settings from there, I was going to go into Normal View to put in the rest of the selection. But before I could blink an eye, the music started playing, and when I went into Slide Show it was working perfectly across all slides - it must have copied in those settings too without whatever caused the corruption.
Even when I fix it myself, it still helps to come to Eileen's Lounge for that to happen!
Thanks again.

Re: Continuous play of a piece of music
Have you set the audio file to play automatically?
- Select the sound file.
- Activate the Playback tab of the ribbon (under Sound Tools).
- Click the Play Sound dropdown in the Sound Options group.
- Select Automatically or Play Across Slides from the dropdown list.

Thank you for testing my file, Hans. I am glad that it is working.
However, it simply isn't working on my computer. I think perhaps my computer has a memory problem. I will have to get that checked.

Re: Continuous play of a piece of music
It's always frustrating when a file works perfectly on one computer an not on another (especially if that other computer is yours...). Unfortunately it's also difficult to troubleshoot.
Do you use any add-ins in PowerPoint?

Re: Continuous play of a piece of music
You don't have to use any add-ins. The reason I asked is that sometimes add-ins interfere with the normal operation of a program.
