These steps:
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/remove-l ... windows-11
work for me BUT only until I restart, at which point 'ENG' reappears in the Sys Tray and I have to go back into settings and toggle the 'use language bar' tick box to make it go away again.
Any ideas as to how to make Win 11 remember that I don't want (need) the lang. bar in the Sys tray?
Thanks,
Ken

Re: remove language bar from the Sytem Tray
I've given up on trying to remove it permanently. It's one of the stupid and annoying features of Windows 11.
Best wishes,
Hans

Oh, OK.
Perhaps the person coding that bit of Win 11 left MS before the job was finished, and the incomplete code is so impenetrable that no one else can figure out how to finish the job.

See Hide the language bar. They have another suggestion if the one you tried fails.

Re: remove language bar from the Sytem Tray
I use the same settings on Windows 11 as on Windows 10. Yet Window 10 let me hide the language bar, Windows 11 doesn't.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: remove language bar from the Sytem Tray
I will check that article in detail but my first impression is that the bit that says:
"Tick the Hidden option underneath the Language Bar title, then hit Apply. This will prevent the language bar from showing in any capacity."
is not true in my case. The 'hidden' option is set and remains set after a re-boot but the lang. bar still reappears after a reboot and only goes away when I toggle the 'use lang. bar' check box.

Do you have more than one language and/or keyboard installed/available?
I don't, and I do not have this problem!

Re: remove language bar from the Sytem Tray
I do have two languages installed - Dutch and English - and that might well be the cause of the problem. But I still find it annoying that I could dismiss the language bar permanently in Windows 10 but not anymore in Windows 11.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: remove language bar from the Sytem Tray
Meanwhile, back on my new Win 11 laptop (my previous post today was from my Win 10 desktop PC), I have to report that the lang. bar is not in my Sys Tray today. Huh?

Re: remove language bar from the Sytem Tray
Mind you it's just found yet another update so who knows what will happen when I click restart...

Re: remove language bar from the Sytem Tray
Restarts (yes plural) done and the lang. bar is still not showing. This could be a 'result'.
I won't crack out the bubbly just yet though.

Re: remove language bar from the Sytem Tray
but I'm not tempted. It's waaaaaay to early to be sure it's gone for good.
