Not used to windows layout of file explorer
Why does the external drives show up twice in the sidebar of file explorer? I don't remember this happening in the older versions of Windows?

I see a similar behaviour where my Ram disk drive E: shows up twice in the left-hand pane but only once in the right hand pane.
Cheers, Chris

File Explorer displays external drive as separate items, but also as sub-items of This PC (if you look closely, you'll see that the top two ones are indented under This PC).
If it irritates you, you can delete a registry key - see How to Stop File Explorer From Showing External Drives Twice.

You chose the right word - irritates! I'll check out your link and think about whether I want to take that step. There ought to be a reason why Microsoft chose to list drives in this manner but what use is it? Does it have something to do with mapping to servers, etc?HansV wrote: ↑08 May 2023, 16:05File Explorer displays external drive as separate items, but also as sub-items of This PC (if you look closely, you'll see that the top two ones are indented under This PC).

Anyway, thanks for your quick response! I appreciate it!
