Shedding a new light on dragonflies.

Post by GeoffW »

I took a shot of a dragonfly sitting on my car door. I opened the door, and it was still there, so I took another shot. I didn't realise until I looked at the shots what a difference a change in the lighting had made.

(Sorry for truncating one wing in the second pic, I was concerned getting it in focus).

Do Australian dragon flies bite Australians?

No they don't- but apparently they do eat the Australian mosquitoes which bite the Australians. "A mosquito eating machine" according to one report, which is fine by me.

Sorry for the slow response. Nice photos. Yes, the iridescent colours on dragonflies and damselflies are beautiful. I've been known to get left behind on a walk because I've stopped to take (yet another) photo of these insects and the others with me have not realised

I can see a door, but not a bull.

Geoff, in the first image, look very closely at the base of his abdomen (the thorax area).
Cheers, Chris
