Hi Graeme. Not according to the link to Dioptres in this post.
Only people who live in countries that use metric can have their diopters measured properly:-
"To grasp the meaning of a diopter, you first have to understand the metric system"
Really old people also need an understanding of Custom.dic in Word2003.
