Good manners. He eats with his mouth closed!

Alas, for the first time in more than 50 years we are without a dachshund in the house.

We had to put our Molly down about 3 weeks ago. At my age, getting another is highly unlikely as it would probably outlive me.

I am sorry to hear this, Bob. Parting from a close friend of a pet is tough.

I know that you don't need my advice, but ...

Get another one.
There HAS to be a lonely dachshund out there that needs a good home.
I know that they have short legs, but they can't fly that low under the radar .... :flee:

My condolences as well Bob. I've had dogs all my life and after my last pal (a gentle golden retriever) passed on, I was of the same mind as you. But recently, we welcomed a four year old, half Corgi, half Miniature Australian Shepherd into our home. She is a wonderful little dog, and I've become completely attached to this "little ball of HAPPY". She has brought back something into my life that I didn't even realize I was missing.

For what it's worth, I agree completely with Chris. Get another one.
