How fast can you type...
I was not fortunate to be trained in typing and I type with a max of 4 fingers, but mostly with my index fingers. Although I have to look at the keyboard, my fingers naturally go to the keys without having to look where they are. The disadvantage I have with typing from a page or screen...copying words as in this test is that I have to look up at the words and down at the keyboard continuously and I loose speed this way
Anyways....irrespective of whetehr you are trainied or not in typing...how fast can YOU type...AND, who is the fastest typist of us all ( challenge)
Post you results for proof... (if you want to.)

Re: How fast can you type...
I'm a horrible typist. But then, typing slowly gives me time to think while I type...
Best wishes,
Hans

Way da go Bob....
Your score could have been slightly more if you had a space between who and their.

Re: How fast can you type...
Impressive...esp. since it is the English version (I gather).
You are way too modest!!!
If I had to type in Afrikaans, I'd probably drop to 10 words a minute...

Rudi,
That was fun. I'm not sure I would want to take it again as I may get a lower score.

John

Super speed.
I'll have to get my wife to challenge you (maybe tomorrow )
In her hayday she could type up to 90 WPM... it would be interesting to put her on this test and see what scores she can achieve.
For now, you are the Lounge Champ John.

Re: How fast can you type...
I got 198 CPM / 40 WPM in Dutch too, so apparently that's my typing speed.

Hans

Re: How fast can you type...
Woah. Nifty.
So you type with all fingers positioned on the keyboard at its proper place and the type without looking at the keys?
Congrats. You and John are going to be hard to beat.

Re: How fast can you type...
When I left school at age 17 I bought an old fashioned mechanical typewriter and a copy of "Teach yourself to type" or some very similar title. I spent about 8 hours a day for a period of about two weeks learning to touch-type. My speed and accuracy have both got lots worse since then.

Re: How fast can you type...
I got my wife to take the challenge. She got 72 WPM, a bit slower than her secretarial days where she said she could get up to 85 WPM.
This does not count as she is not a member here, so Stuart is still the outright leader...
