A Personal Boast
Today my lovely wife and I have been married 53 years and have begun our 54th. We had dinner last night with our daughter and son-in-law both of whom are just starting careers in nursing.

Re: A Personal Boast
That really is most impressive. Congratulations.
I remember when my grandparents celebrated their 60th Wedding anniversary. My grandded produced some prunes he had put to soak in rum 60 years earlier and kept topping up. There wasn't much prune left but they tasted delicious!

Many congratulations!
My 100th birthday won't be too many years after my 63rd anniversary. I suspect I won't make it that long- but I've still got quite a few years to go yet.

Re: A Personal Boast
Any kind words of advice for those of us who haven't gotten to 53 years yet? What do you think have been the key elements to such a long, great relationship?

Re: A Personal Boast
Mom and Dad were married 60 years... they were each other's best friend (with benefits). They'd actually sit down and talk things out. Mom told me that was really important when Susie and I settled down together 24 years ago. And Mom was right! (She usually was...)
And congrats on your year total, too!!!! Excellent!

Love and respect each other,
Have no secrets between each other,
Communication is KEY!
See to each others needs,
Share intimate moments...marvel at sunsets and stare out on the ocean while having a glass of wine.
Have fun in everything,
And lastly...do the home budget together.
