2.3GHZ or 2.4

Post by westerneagle »

In looking at some laptops.....

One specification for the processor is 2.3Ghz or for a little more $ I can get one with 2.4 Ghz.... or there is one with 1.3 or you can get a 1.6

If one had the same amount of Ram....could one really tell the difference in the speed of the computer?

Last November I bought a refurbished HP laptop that has a 2.4 gig processor and I love it to pieces. I don't know about other "techies" but I don't think I could tell the difference, one from the other.

To me, it was a combination of several things about the laptop that made me purchase it - processor, SIZE of display, RAM and hard drive size. There could be more.

Processor speed is just one factor.
A dual core processor ar 2 GHz will probably be faster than a single core processor at 2.4 GHz.
A 2.4 Ghz processor intended for desktops will probably be faster than a comparable 2.4 GHz processor intended for laptops.
The amount of RAM and the speed of the hard disk are important factors too (an SSD can make a world of difference).
Best wishes,
Hans
